Imam Reza shrine in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad was adorned with flowers on the eve of the blessed birth anniversary of Imam Mohammad Taqi (al‑Javad), as thousands of devotees braved cold winds, snowfall, and rain to take part in the annual floral ceremony honoal-Javad.9th Shia Imam.
The shrine’s courtyards were filled with an atmosphere of joy, devotion, and spiritual warmth.
Despite the winter weather, residents of Mashhad—known as the “City of Paradise”—gathered with hearts glowing with love for the Ahl al‑Bayt. Carrying colorful bouquets, they began a celebratory procession from Shohada Square toward the sacred shrine.
Large, vibrant banners bearing the names “O Javad al‑A’immah” and “O Imam Reza” led the crowd as worshippers moved toward the courtyards of the Gracious Imam.
Each participant joined the procession with personal hopes, prayers, and gratitude, forming a collective caravan of devotion.
Upon reaching the shrine, the joyful crowd recited chants such as “Javad al‑A’immah has come—welcome, welcome” and “O Javad al‑A’immah, flower of Zahra,” offering congratulations to Imam Reza on the birth of his only son. Many pilgrims prayed for blessings and sought spiritual gifts on the auspicious night.
The ceremony transformed the shrine into a scene of light, fragrance, and celebration, marking one of the most cherished annual traditions of the Razavi sanctuary.
